My farm is truly blessed © Kathy Ralph 2011 What a big beautiful boy. Buddy is allergic to Mosquitoes and Midges, and he suffers from a condition called Queensland Itch so I need to keep him covered as much as possible Buddy Buddy's story is very different indeed. I found him at a horse trader's place rather the worse for wear. His next move would be to the dog food factory if I had not bought him. I purchased him as a gift for someone who wanted a horse. He was to be a surprise birthday gift after I had nursed him to full health. However the person I purchased him for decided that they did not want him or any horse for that matter. So, you could say he was mine by default. By now I loved him and so I kept him. The horse trader told me he was about seven years old, however the vet estimated his age at double that. I knew if I attempted to sell him he would end up as dog meat and he was too beautiful for that. He had had a tough life in the trotting world being passed from trainer to trainer and at first he was extremely untrusting of humans. He wouldn't come to me and I couldn't touch him around the head. I fear he had been struck too may times. Now he is a big gentle giant who is happily living out his retirement, loved and cared for.
