My farm is truly blessed © Kathy Ralph 2011 Let me in please If I wait and look cute he'll give me some Finally I get some. I like chicken too. I'm still waiting One afternoon Buddy, my big horse, was in the yard, I had been feeding the cat just outside Buddy's stable, so obviously they had become acquainted. As the cat made his run the dogs in hot pursuit, Buddy put himself between the dogs and the cat, he reared up on his hind legs and came down heavily stomping his huge feet right in front of the faces of the dogs. They were stopped in their tracks and quickly retreated to the house. That was the beginning of the cat's new life. From then on he would make a dash to the stable yard, lay on the ground under Buddy's great legs, and roll around joyously in the dust. He almost appeared to taunt the dogs as he rolled in the shadow of his huge benefactor. Soon I was able to touch him and take the collar from his neck it had been there so long it had worn all his fur away and a nasty rash had occurred. Soon he started to put on weight, was taken to the vet where he was inoculated given worm treatment and shown the care and love he so richly deserved. I named him Stable Cat for he began sleeping in the stable with Buddy upon the hay in the feed area. I think Buddy understood for if you remember his life experiences with humans were similar to Stable Cat. Stable Cat was at last warm and safe. Of course when I moved to my Blessed Farm Stable Cat came too. He doesn't sleep in the stable anymore but he comes up every night when I feed his big friend, then he returns to the comfort of his home with those who love him. He never hunts.
