My farm is truly blessed

Blue Faced Honey Eater
One morning I was sitting on the deck
and by chance my eyes were drawn to the
Golden Cane that is growing by the pool.
There to my amazement I spied this Blue
Faced Honey Eater in its nest. It was such
an unusual and precarious place to build
a nest, so close to the house and in the
palm fronds that looked a little more than
unstable. As I watched, the nest received
many visitors all chatting excitedly as
they inspected the nursery where the
new babes were to be hatched. The two
owners of the nest took turns in sitting on
the eggs and leaving to search for food. I
was honoured to be able to observe their
home uninvited. I never saw the babies
as when I came home one afternoon the
nest was gone and so were the birds. Now
when I spy one of these unusual looking
birds I wonder if I am looking at the grown
up babies or Mum and Dad.
