My farm is truly blessed © Kathy Ralph 2011 Baby Fig Bird Well would you know it! One afternoon when I arrived home I poured a glass of wine and proceeded to get comfortable on the deck, where I could relax and drink in the atmosphere. Pushka was curled up on the chair and stable cat was sleeping under the table. Suddenly I was conscious of a small bird crying. I thought it was one of the Magpie babies, when I realized it was coming from somewhere very close at hand. As I stood up to investigate I spied this little baby about 12 inches away from the cats! And, he was squawking his head off! He couldn't yet fly and had been blown from his nest and somewhat unceremoniously dumped onto my deck. I ran inside, got the cats' carry cage, rescued the little fellow and rushed him off to the vet. There I discovered he was a baby Fig Bird. The Wildlife Carer was called and he is now in her safe hands being fed and cared for until he is able to survive on his own in the wild. Isn't he so cute and hasn't he got big feet?
