My farm is truly blessed © Kathy Ralph 2011 Now that we are back in the house I think I'll show you some pictures of some Spiders and Insects I have found around the farm. There are many different species of Spiders around the farm. I used to be scared of spiders, but now as I learn about the part they play in the environment, I have come to admire their ability to make a home wherever they choose and of course it's always near a natural source of food. I guess humans with their never ending light bulbs have done the humble spider a favour attracting insects, flies and moths, the favourite food of most spiders. So let's go and meet a couple of them. Meet Roger. He actually lived in my office for some months. Both Graham and I were very sad when he died. Insects Roger the Huntsman Then Baby Roger arrived, Graham took him for walks too! Here is a Golden Orb weaver we found at the gate Roger We used to call him Roger, a hunter through and through Well so they say, but you know, to me it is not true He came and made himself at home, somewhere in my den He got there by himself I s'pose, I never let him in. Graham, whose my nephew, would sometimes take him out, He'd let him walk around a bit and for mossies he would tout, One day our little Roger, ate something not so good, So we buried him with dignity, as we supposed you should.
