My farm is truly blessed © Kathy Ralph 2011 Snakes & Rodent Well, what can I say about snakes? Those that put fear into the hearts of the bravest men. Apparently there are some 31 species of snakes in the Greater Brisbane Region. Actually they put fear into me too! But let's just stop a while and realise that they also have a right to their little lives as neighbours on our great continent. Many people in Australia are happy to have a resident Carpet Snake in their ceilings or stables. They rid the place of rats and mice. They look menacing, but really they are quite harmless to humans. Generally, I am told snakes are more scared of us than we are of them. I hope it's true. I have been fortunate not to come into direct contact with any… except the ones that Pushka has bought in! What's this on my bedroom floor, and where's Pushka? Bunny doesn't seem to care! Some watchdog! What sort of snake? I don't know. It can't be poisonous though because Pushka's okay. Oh no here's another Thank goodness for zooms! Please understand that these photos are not always perfect, I can't miss a 'Kodak' moment but sometimes my hand shakes… hence blurred snakes! Seriously though, have you ever touched a snake? I always thought they'd feel cold and clammy. Not so, they feel warm and soft like velvet! That's the ones I've touched anyway. What do I do with them? Well, I get the broom, attempt to sweep them into one of the big empty horse feed bags, gingerly take them outside and let them go! Then I run like hell! It would be quite amusing to watch actually… funny home videos and all that!
