Jesse and I called in to the Produce Store and spied this
beautiful black hen for sale. A$14.95.When I looked at her
I knew I should take her home, but, I didn't.
When we arrived home I had no sooner got out of the
truck than I said "Jesse, I want that black hen!" So back
we went and here she is. She is so pretty, her black
feathers are tinged with emerald green and red and she
literally shimmers in the sun. I've called her Midnight.
Big Red has now
matured into a
gorgeous rooster.
He loves to show
off and he loves
having a dust bath
I have learnt a little about
chickens. The vet tells me that
each Rooster needs about 10 to
15 hens each, now what to do? I
have 3 Roosters: Chicken Little,
Baby, and now Big Red, and I
only have 5 hens! No wonder
there has been a few fights.
As big Red is the last to arrive
Jesse has found a wonderful
new home for him. He is going
to another farm where he has 20
hens all to himself. Although I am
sorry to see him go he really will
be in a Rooster's Paradise.
Jesse helps me on
the farm on Sundays
And I attempt to help
him with his favourite
sport Boxing. He's
a great help and in
his last year at high
school. Hey don't
mess with him, he's
State Champion!
