My farm is truly blessed © Kathy Ralph 2011 This was the commencement of my lifelong love and need for animals. Many more gentle souls have blessed me with their presence and one day I will tell all their stories, but this little book is about where I live now, on My Mini Farm That Is Truly Blessed. I sincerely hope that adults and children alike will enjoy the pages that will unfold and that they will find some love and joy from the animals that live on my blessed farm. Truly Blessed I awoke this morning, and saw, the butcher bird, He sat outside my window, and never said a word, His little eyes were watching, me upon my bed, He was only waiting, for me to raise my head. And so I slowly got up, and staggered to the fridge, There I got his breakfast, and opened up the lid, His meat was red and wholesome and so, to him I threw, Tiny little morsels, he caught, and then he flew, Back I guess to family, waiting for him to bring, The food they need each day, for babes are born in spring. I went about my daily chores, fed horses, chicks and smalls, And then I went to garden, to play with plants and soil, There I found just waiting, two green as green young frogs, Looking for some water, they were sitting on my logs. So I ran up to the tap, and then attached the hose I ran back to where they were, and fed them, I suppose. The day it went quite quickly, the parrots in the trees, Of course I had to feed them, they've got to have their seed. Finally when the dusk did come I thought the night was mine, So straight into the house I go, to find the cask of wine. The garden done, the painting done the leaves all swept away, I was fairly tired, because, I'd worked all day. Then I saw the apples, for the possum that calls at night, So off I went to get the torch, so I could have some light, I put the food in his wee dish, and waited for him to show, Soon he crawled down from the tree, he really is quite slow. I thought about the day that passed and all of nature's needs, I looked into the day's night sky, and the outline of the trees, I sighed and smiled and looked about, at nature at it's best, Pride and love fulfilled my heart, as it pounded within my chest, My life is blessed with wonderment each and every day, Don't take this gift away from me, Dear Lord each day, I pray.
