He seizes his meat in his
beak then swallows it so fast
it's hard to catch a picture of
him. Isn't he a beauty?
The Kookaburra
He flies onto my deck each day,
Morning noon or night,
He waits for me to give him meat,
He gives me much delight.
I offer in my hand, some steak,
For him, it's his Big Mac!
He tilts his head and looks for more,
Then, he lets me stroke his back.
I give him tiny little strips,
He swallows them straight down,
His feathers are so clean and smooth,
All cream, some blue and brown.
For those who've never known one,
Of nature, he's brave and kind,
He's a gentle little being,
Australia's, greatest find.
His name is Laughing Kookaburra,
The name just suits him so.
He laughs his way throughout the day,
As humans should, you know!
