Step 4 Supply lots of books. Children who grow up with books around them see books as their friends that reward them with adventures, and learning opportunities. Importantly they also offer relaxation and an escape from boredom. Today children's books are inexpensive and abundant. They are also a lot less expensive that some high tech toys that are played with a few times and quickly discarded. Supplying a never ending supply of toys does not hold a child's interest for long. They constantly move from one to another quickly casting one after another aside.
